Abstract
- Model-based Systems Engineering (MBSE), represents an integrated framework compared to traditional document-based systems engineering, and is used to improve complexity management, communication, traceability, and quality of a system development. LSA-02 is a joint project between BRIN (then LAPAN) with TU Berlin to develop UAV Technology demonstrator, with the purpose to provide a flying testbed to test and conduct experiments related to UAV technologies. The purpose of this paper is to reverse engineer the LSA-02 (document-based) project to model and evaluate top level concepts of the project within MBSE frameworks using SysML as language. It was found out that the model-based work provided a better overall view of a complex system. Even though the model is still limited to top level contexts, it is sufficient to illustrate, describe, and even found a possible problem in one of LSA-02 concepts (related to LSA-02 Safety System - SaSys). Further work is to complete the MBSE model, introduce organization or discipline specific SysML profiles, and connect SysML with analytic tools. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
