Abstract

Objective. To analyze the level of welfare in Mexican households of children under five who presented acute diarrheal disease (ADD) in the last two weeks in Mexico, according to the National Health Survey (Ensanut) Continua 2022. Materials and methods. The survey was conducted between July and December 2022. Dependent variable: to present ADD. Independent variable: level of welfare house. Bivariate and logistic regression crude and adjusted analyses were performed. Results. It is estimated that 9.4% of children under five years of age presented ADD; of these, 76.4% (95%CI: 69.0,82.5) belonged to households with low-medium levels of well-being. Having ADD was more frequent in 1-year-old children (aOR 3.00; 95%CI: 1.76,5.11), compared to those younger than 1 year; and belonging to households where water is not treated (aOR 2.13; 95%CI: 1.11,4.08). Conclusions. It is a priority to strengthen sanitary measures to prevent ADD in one-year-old children, as well as implement actions to ensure the availability of drinking water or its adequate treatment for drinking. It is necessary to plan, execute and evaluate integral and multisectoral public policy actions that help to guarantee the human right to health in childhood. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
