SPL(squamosa promoter-binding protein-like) gene encodes a transcription factor unique to green plants,which participates in plant morphogenesis and flower development, root development and other processes, regulates the transformation of plants at different developmental stages,maintains plant fertility,responds to external stresses of plants,and plays an important role in the whole process of plant growth and development. The research situation, structural characteristics, homologous gene cloning, expression regulation pattern and biological functions of SPL transcription factors were reviewed in this paper,in order to lay the foundation for further research on SPL transcription factors.
