Abstract

This article provides an overview of crustal growth and reworking at Archean plate margins. It explains that Archean cratons, which are stable geological formations, have formed through the growth and assemblage of ancient continental nuclei. The article discusses the identification of Archean plate margins and the mechanisms of crustal growth at these margins, emphasizing the importance of studying these processes for understanding the formation of the continental crust and the operation of plate tectonics in the Archean era. It also explores the generation and preservation of mafic magmas in different tectonic environments, the mechanisms of crustal reworking at Archean plate margins, and the geological processes and characteristics of Archean plate tectonics. The study suggests that distinguishing between different types of rocks and understanding the processes of crustal growth and reworking at Archean plate margins are crucial for comprehending Archean plate tectonics.
