Abstract

The article discusses the reintroduction efforts of Bearded Vultures in the Alps, which were once misunderstood and persecuted by Europeans. Thanks to conservation projects, the population of these birds is recovering, but new threats pose challenges to their long-term survival. The article highlights the importance of education and shifting attitudes towards the vultures, as well as monitoring and providing support to the chicks until they can scavenge successfully. The reintroduction program has been successful in expanding the vulture population in Europe, and there are hopes that releases in the Alps will no longer be necessary in the future.
