The text analyzes, in a synthetic way, some of the aspects present in the current migration scenario; it emphasizes the correlation of immigration with the issue of hunger. The setting for the empirical analysis is the city of Pacaraima, on the border with Venezuela, in the state of Roraima. The analysis concludes by demonstrating that the Brazilian government's Operação Acolhida, in conjunction with various entities, is extremely important in alleviating suffering, allowing some hope of a better life in Brazil, as well as solving the pressing and vital problem of hunger for a large part of the thousands of Venezuelan immigrants.
