Abstract
- This article discusses a case of subcutaneous emphysema in a 59-year-old female patient who underwent surgery for a hydatid cyst. The emphysema developed after the insertion of a double-lumen tube (DLT) during anesthesia. Computed tomography revealed the presence of tracheal diverticula, which were not present before the surgery. The authors suggest that the use of an inappropriate size DLT during intubation may have caused the diverticula. The treatment for this condition is usually conservative, unless the patient is symptomatic. The article emphasizes the importance of considering iatrogenic tracheal diverticula as a potential cause of subcutaneous emphysema in postoperative patients. [Extracted from the article]
