Abstract
- A male neonate developed a Candida parapsilosis infection while being treated for a Serratia marcescens infection with multiple drugs, including meropenem, vancomycin, netilmicin, ciprofloxacin, chloramphenicol, amikacin, aztreonam, and gentamicin. The neonate experienced lack of efficacy during treatment with various antibiotics for both infections. He was hospitalized with symptoms including seizures, oedema, and hepatosplenomegaly. Despite receiving multiple treatments, his condition progressively deteriorated, and he ultimately died from the Candida parapsilosis infection. Autopsy results showed that the infection had caused ventricular haemorrhage, ventriculitis, and hydrocephalus. [Extracted from the article]
