Abstract

The article discusses the development of a microbial identification and source tracking system called MIST. The system integrates three analysis pipelines for microbial identification and contamination investigation in food and drug quality control. The article also mentions existing web services and tools for microbial identification and highlights the strengths and limitations of each. Overall, the MIST system provides a comprehensive and efficient approach to microbial identification and source tracking. The accuracy of the identification procedure was tested using 560 ATCC standard strains, with only a few inconsistencies due to naming errors or disputes about strain nomenclature. The article concludes by highlighting the importance of microbial identification pipelines in fields such as food safety and drug control. [Extracted from the article]
