Abstract

In the article "Intelligent Optical Fiber-Integrated Near-Infrared Polarimeter Based on Upconversion Nanoparticles," Yi Xu, Ai-Hua Li, Huanyang Chen, Jin-hui Chen, and colleagues present a new design for an intelligent fiber-integrated near-infrared (NIR) light field sensor. The sensor is based on upconversion nanoparticles (UCNPs) and tapered multimode fiber. The researchers demonstrate that the sensor can accurately decode spectra-polarization-dependent upconverted speckled patterns using a deep neural network. This development has potential applications in fiber-optic sensors and communications networks, providing a new design paradigm for multi-dimensional NIR light field detection.
