Abstract

Entomology collections, along with natural history collections in general, are crucial for research in understanding biological diversity and the impact of humans on landscapes and climate. However, much of the metadata associated with these collections is not available in a digital format, making it difficult for researchers to access and analyze. Digitizing metadata and preserving specimens is necessary to make these collections accessible and prevent data loss. Additionally, there is a need for continued collecting and preservation of scientific specimens, as new technologies alone cannot replace the value of physical specimens. The future of entomological collections relies on the support and advocacy of entomologists and the inclusion of diverse perspectives and knowledge. [Extracted from the article]
