Design of CPW dual band bandpass filter for C-band and comparison with microstrip dual band filter insertion loss.

Abstract

To design an Innovative Coplanar Waveguide Band Pass Filter for low band (4 –8 GHz) and compare insertion loss with microstrip dual band filter antenna. The designs proposed are bas ed on the CPW dual band bandpass filter, which consists of a simple rectangular frame constructed on a 1.6mm thick commercially available Rogers TM 10 material substrate. The sample size was calculated using G power (80%) and determined to be 20 (i.e for e ach group 10). With the help of Ansoft HFSS version 14.0 software, this dual bandpass filter was designed and its performance was evaluated. CPW dual bandpass filter (-2.42 dB and -2.58 dB) insertion loss is improved compared to microstrip dual band filters (-4.28 dB and -3.85 dB) for the frequency 4.8 GHz and 7.8 GHz. There is a 0.024 (p0.05) significant difference between the two groups. When comparing the insertion loss of a CPW dual band pass filter with a Rogers 10mm substrate to a microstrip dual band pass filter with a Rogers 5880 substrate, the insertion loss of a CPW dual band pass filter with a Rogers 10mm substrate looks to be higher.
