Abstract

The experiment was to study the effect of different arginine levels on liver biochemistry, antioxidant indexes and intestinal antioxidant and immune indexes of Wulong geese during laying period. A total of one hundred and fifty 34-week-old Wulong geese were randomly divided into six groups, with five replicates in each group and five geese in each replicate (one male and four female). Geese in control group were fed with a basal diet with arginine level of 0.72%, The dietary arginine levels of each experimental group were 0.82%, 0.92%, 1.02%, 1.12% and 1.22%, respectively. The pre-test lasted for 1 w and the formal test lasted for 16 w. The results showed that liver TG content of geese in 1.02% group was significantly lower than that in 0.72% group, 0.82% group, 1.12% group and 1.22% group (P<0.05). Liver T-AOC of geese in 0.92% group was significantly higher than that in 0.72% group, 0.82% group, 1.12% group and 1.22% group (P<0.05). The liver GSH-Px activity of geese in 1.02% group was significantly higher than that in 0.72% group, 1.12% group and 1.22% group (P<0.05). The GSH-Px activity of geese jejunum in 1.02% group was significantly higher than that in 0.72% group, 0.82% group and 1.22% group (P<0.05). The sIgA content in geese ileum in 1.02% group and 1.12% group was significantly higher than that in 0.72% group and 0.82% group (P<0.05). The study indicates that dietary arginine can regulate liver lipid metabolism and promote antioxidant capacity and immune function, the recommended level of arginine is 1.02%. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
