Abstract

The article "Theory of Unipolar Politics" by Nuno Monteiro discusses the durability and propensity for conflict of a unipolar international structure. The author highlights the role of the predominant actor in this system, the unipole, and analyzes the best strategy to be adopted by it. The author also addresses the role of nuclear weapons and the relationship between economic and military power. He concludes that the durability of unipolarity is related to nuclear weapons and proposes a strategy of defensive tolerance to maintain the status quo. The text also mentions that small powers face challenges in the unipolar system and seek balance through nuclear proliferation, which generates conflicts. However, the text does not address issues such as the influence of military industries and the role of political-military blocs in international relations. [Extracted from the article]
