Abstract
- The aim of this study is to improve the VSWR (Voltage Standing Wave Ratio) of a Microstrip Patch Antenna (MPA) using novel Slotted RT - Duroid substrate over FR4 substrate for frequencies ranging from 3 to 5.8 GHz. VSWR of a microstrip patch antenna with FR4 substrate is compared to the VSWR of a novel slotted RT - Duroid substrate. The sample size of group 1 of FR4 substrate is 10 samples and group 2 of novel slotted RT - Duroid substrate is 10 samples. These samples are calculated using g power with pre-test power of 80 % and alpha value is 0.05 (error rate). Novel Slotted RT - Duroid substrate microstrip patch antenna has significantly better VSWR (1.49) at 3 GHz than the FR4 substrate microstrip patch antenna (1.62) at 3 GHz. The independent sample t - test has been analyzed and achieved a significance of 0.0469 (p<0.05).VSWR of novel slotted RT - Duroid substrate microstrip patch antenna is significantly better than the FR4 substrate microstrip patch antenna.
