Abstract
- This paper addresses the education city as a model of a city conducive to participatory democratic management. In the geopolitical and educational context, it deals with the revision of the Master Plan in the municipality of Porto Velho (Rondônia), understanding that the Master Plan can be an important instrument for Education and citizenship, in the sense of having a participatory population, aware of its role as a transformer of the city where they live. The approach is qualitative, with a bibliographic, documentary and action-research procedure, carried out through data collection and participation in audiences and community reading workshops. It was concluded that the revision process of Porto Velho’s Master Plan, in the period 2018 and 2019, in addition to the aspects related to economic, social, cultural development, dealt with the relations between population and municipal management through the communicative process foreseen in the education city model.
