Abstract

A 26-year-old man with Wiskott-Aldrich syndrome (WAS) experienced treatment failure while being treated for type-B insulin resistance (TBIR) with prednisolone, methylprednisolone, rituximab, and immune-globulin. He also developed opportunistic infections as a result of these treatments. After prolonged ICU stay and complex treatment, he underwent an allogeneic peripheral blood stem cell transplantation, which led to improvement in TBIR and his eventual discharge from the hospital. However, his renal function deteriorated after two years, and he was given methylprednisolone and ciclosporine. [Extracted from the article]
