Abstract
- This article presents the findings of a study on milk sharing and human milk banking in the southeastern Anatolia region of Turkey. The study found that while many participants were aware of wet nursing, a significant number were unaware of human milk banking and expressed reluctance to donate or feed their babies banked milk. Factors influencing their opinions included religious concerns, commercial gain, hygiene, and perceived decrease in nutritional value. The study suggests that healthcare professionals should consider these factors when planning educational programs to address negative attitudes towards human milk banking. The study also identified barriers and facilitators to the establishment of human milk banking and highlighted the value of milk sharing in meeting the needs of babies in need. The authors recommend implementing educational programs and providing guidance to mothers to address concerns and promote the benefits of human milk banking. [Extracted from the article]
