Abstract

The Supreme Court has ruled that there are some areas in which the government may absolutely prohibit the exercise of First Amendment rights, especially the right to assemble. The First Amendment protects the right to freedom of religion, speech, the press, and peaceable assembly and the right to petition the government for a redress of grievances.
