Evolución de las acciones afirmativas. Estados Unidos de América y Latinoamérica.

This article analyzes the historical development of the concept of equality and its incorporation into the different legal systems of Latin America with the aim of understanding gender affirmative actions as we know them today. Specific attention is paid to the contrast between the experiences of Latin America and the United States, given that in the United States the discussion on quotas has been oriented -and continues today- only with respect to racial discrimination. Additionally, the paper addresses the consequences of the implementation of the first affirmative action in Argentina more than thirty years ago and the consequences of the absence of affirmative actions in other countries.
