Abstract
- DC–DC converters are among the main components of DC power systems based on renewable energy sources. In some applications, interleaved multi-phase converters are employed to reduce the converter input current and output voltage ripples and increase reliability. On the other hand, modular converters are also employed in some applications mainly to increase the system power range, reliability, and reconfigurability. Developing effective methods for controlling and monitoring the modular multi-phase converters plays an important role in the power system's performance and efficiency. In this paper, a new effective Lyapunov-based control method is proposed for the modular multi-phased DC–DC boost converters. The modular converter includes two main multi-phase modules and one reserved module which substitutes the main modules in the fault conditions. The proposed control method is superior to the conventional proportional-integral controller in terms of the response speed and converter's current and voltage transient variations. Also, the proposed controller reduces the number of integrators which leads to the simplified implementation. The validity of the proposed method is confirmed by simulation and experimental results.
