Abstract
- A literary criticism of the fictional mystery novel "Origins of Love," by Kishwar Desai is presented. The authors discuss how Desai speculated on the bioethical issue of artificial reproduction technology in India including commercial surrogacy. Also highlighted are the biopolitical confiscation of surrogate bodies, the Foucauldian notion of biopower in the ART markets, and the slow violence of neoliberalism in relation to reproductive technology.
