Abstract
- The research discusses a study and analysis of the system on the Air Conditioner (AC) which is engineered into two functions, namely air conditioning and hot water supply for bathing needs. Heat exchangers as water heaters that were be used capillary pipes, finned capillary pipes, honeycomb-shaped channels made of aluminum and brass. The aim of the study was to see the performance of AC (coefficient of performance/COP) due to the addition of a heat exchanger. The research was carried out experimentally with an experiment at an AC evaporator temperature of 16 0C with a duration of 60 minutes. The experimental results were used as initial data for calculating the COP value. The result, it was known that there was a decrease in AC performance when a heat exchanger application was added to the AC system. The largest decrease occurred in the type of honeycomb-shaped channel made of aluminum, from the COP value of 3.052 to 1.385. While the lowest decrease in COP occurred in the capillary tube heat exchanger type from 3.052 to 2.7. In addition, all the heat exchangers used could increase the temperature of the water in the tank and cause a decrease in the performance of the air conditioner itself. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
