Abstract

It is known that the presence of HPV is closely related to the development of cervical intraepithelial lesions. In order to identify the viral presence in the organism, the search for DNA-HPV is used through the hybrid capture test. The objective of the study was to evaluate findings from hybrid captures and compare them with the results of the anatomopathological examination of women with cervical lesions at a diagnostic pathology medical center. Secondary data were used through the analysis of reports of positive hybrid capture for HPV, and the anatomopathological examination suggestive of cervical intraepithelial lesion. The mean age of patients treated was 30.14 years, and women with high-grade lesions had a higher mean age. As for the anatomopathological examination, most women had lowgrade lesions. High-risk HPV was more prevalent both in women with low-grade and high-grade lesions. The sensitivity of the hybrid capture was 62.2%, specificity 28.9% and negative predictive value 63.2%. The results obtained were lower than those in the literature, but they corroborate current guidelines. The study suggests that hybrid capture be used as an auxiliary method for the diagnosis and follow-up of women with cervical injuries. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
