Abstract

In mining activities, hydrological analysis is needed to determine the dewatering system, pump requirements, and settling pond volume. In addition, hydrological analysis can also affect mine productiv ity, especially the use of availability (UA) value on heavy equipment. The problem is the lack of rainfall observation data in some mining locations. One of the solutions is by using simulated rainfall data generated by the Tropical Rainfall Measuring Mission (TRMM)satellite sensor. The objective of this study is to identify the correlation between TRMM satellite data and observation data from the rainfall station to overcome the limitation of data in some ungauged areas. The evaluation was carried out by analyzing the correlation value between TRMM satellite data and the rainfall data from Citeko Meteorological Station, Bandung Geophysical Station, and Bogor Climatological Station with the data period from January 2011 to December 2019. The results show good correlation results with an r-value of 0.78 in Bandung Geophysical Station, 0.68 in Citeko Meteorological Station, and 0.77 in Bogor Climatologal Station for monthly period data. All in all, the TRMM data can beused in ungauged locations for many purposes, including mining activities. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
