Abstract

One of the goals of national education is that students have the ability to think critically. Students must be able to solve math problems, especially those related to story problems. This study aims to determine the differences in the ability of differences in critical thinking in shivas in solving mathematical problems in class VIII Mts Negeri 2 Grobogan students in review of the 2021/2022 school gender This research uses a qualitative type of research with a descriptive research design. The subject of this study consisted of 1 class with a total of 12 students. The data collection techniques in this study used three data collection techniques, namely tests, interviews, and documentation. The results of this study are for the critical thinking ability of high-level female students, all indicators are met, the medium level is only able to analyze, evaluate and present conclusions, while the low-level female students are only able to judge the truth and state conclusions. In the critical thinking ability of high-level male students all indicators are met, the medium level is only able to analyze, evaluate and realize conclusions, while low-level male students are only able to judge the truth and state conclusions. From the research above, the critical thinking ability of male students in solving the story problem of the two-variable linear equation system is overall lower than that of female students.
