Abstract
- Generation Z represents a very important generational shift in the workplace. This generation, which has just entered the working life, will constitute the majority of the workers in the next ten to twenty years. Managing the employees of Generation Z, who have different attitudes and behaviors compared to the previous generations, is possible by first trying to understand the expectations of this generation. However, it is important not only to be aware of the expectations of this generation, but also how to manage these differences or the conflicts they will create in the workplace. This article has tried to improve a contextual view that defines the work-related characteristics of the youngest generation in working life and to offer some suggestions for Generation Z managers. For this purpose, a qualitative research was conducted based on in-depth interviews with the managers of Generation Z who are in working life. In the research, one-to-one in-depth interviews were conducted with 20 managers working as human resources managers, personnel managers or similar senior managers in companies with 100 or more employees operating in different sectors. In the study, it was found that Generation Z showed significant differences in management style, motivation, teamwork and social interactions due to their prominent workrelated characteristics.
