Abstract

Probiotics can be programmed to sense and respond to intracellular disease signals to deliver the desired therapeutic effectors. The sense-and-respond genetic circuits, especially self-tunable ones, hold promise in improving the precision, effectiveness, and intelligence of therapeutic activities.
