Abstract

Responds to comments made on the author's writings and discussions of issues related to housing. Author's discussion of the condition of the Dutch integrated rental markets; Basis for the argument that reduced pensions combined with both qualitative and quantitative reductions in the general range of public elderly care will increase the sense of insecurity created by the decline in general welfare provision such that more people will choose to buy rather than rent housing as just one of a number of hedges against old-age penury; Author's claim that the purpose of dualist rental systems is to channel household choice into home ownership.
