Abstract
- A Construção do Algarve. Manuel Gomes da Costa was the architect who mediated and reconciled all the contradictions in the process of stabilizing an idea of regional and modern Algarve architecture over the four decades dissected in the book. The author attributes this simplification to the still outstanding contribution of Raul Lino and, in the architectural practice of the 1930s, sees the "modernist vernacular" as a third way to the Algarve's identity.
