Most modern chicken breeds aim at rapid growth and weight gain, which increases the burden of skeletal system of chicks, resulting in abnormal skeletal development and increased incidence of bone diseases in adult chickens. The growth, development and metabolic balance of chicken bone mainly include intramembranous ossification, endochondral ossification, bone reconstruction and bone plastic construction, which can be affected by many factors such as genetics, nutrition, intestinal microorganisms and feeding environment management. The article reviews the regulatory mechanisms of various factors affecting bone development and metabolism in chickens, in order to provide new ideas for the study of bone development, bone metabolism and genetic breeding of chickens.
