Abstract

Two variants of magnesium alloy surface modification were considered to increase the intensity of spectral lines. Use of gold nanoparticles for the alloy components increased the signal-to-noise ratio by 1.5–2 times. Use of a dye decreased this ratio. The absorption efficiency of laser radiation on the surface did not substantially influence the ablation of metals affected by nanosecond pulses. Accumulation of signal from three pulses with surface cleaning was enough to overcome the effect from the use of nanoparticles. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
