Abstract
- This article, which is part of the debate on Communication and Environment, analyses reasons for the scarce coverage, with a predominantly economic bias, on wind energy produced by the main potiguar newspaper Tribuna do Norte, between January 2003 and January 2004. This period was a milestone for media planning on the topic due to social, economic, and environmental expectations related to the opening of the first wind farm in the state of Rio Grande do Norte, currently the largest producer of this type of energy in Brazil. The State was moving towards production of sustainable energy, which is why we sought to understand the context in which the theme gained visibility due to its environmental relevance for the country. The methodological path chosen was based on Critical Discourse Analysis (FAIRCLOUGH, 1989, 1995, 2001), represented by "Discursive Practice" and "Sociocultural Practice". [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
