Abstract

With the global rise in the use of plastics, the emerging concern of the management of these waste plastics by converting them into useful fuels are discussed in the paper. The paper discusses about what type of harm the waste plastics are causing to not only to the humans but also to the plants and animals. Then strategies are discussed to come up with an efficient way to manage these wastes. It was observed that extraction of biofuels and products similar to it was a pretty viable way of managing these wastes thus the various pyrolysis techniques were discussed. Not only the conventional methods but the non-conventional methods were also discussed. Then a brief explanation was given to get an idea about engine testing and ECU tuning. Also, besides the engine testing other tests were discussed in brief for comparing different fuels and to get the idea of its properties were discussed. The experiments conducted were in a compression ignition engine and the results were summarized in the paper. The integration of artificial neural networking for the purpose of optimization was also discussed. Upon getting an idea about the process, the effect of the derived Waste Plastic Oil (WPO) was seen with various proportion of it blended with diesel and under the influence of some oxygenated additives.
