Orientalism: Entrances and Exits.

Examines the critical concept of Orientalism according to writer Edward Said, the contradiction its raises for Asian American critical studies and Said's return to humanism for their resolution. Dismissal of an interpretive unity provided by Western orientalism and Said's critical concept of it; Proposal of viable strategies to preserve a line of exit from Said's critical concept when necessary; Symptomatic of the contradiction in the deployment of critiques of Orientalism.
