Abstract

Geopolymers are inorganic polymers with a three-dimensional framework structure that have excellent mechanical and physical properties. Geopolymers are environmentally beneficial substitutes to ordinary Portland cement: they reduce greenhouse gas emissions while also using significant amounts of industrial wastes including fly ash, metallurgical slag and mine tailings in a variety of applications. Raw ingredients and geopolymer qualities, particularly mechanical properties, are covered in this research. The current state of the geopolymer industry is discussed, as well as the challenges that must be solved in order for these innovative cements to gain widespread acceptance and application. Finally, study ideas for the future are suggested. Geopolymers have been limited in their application due to issues such as a conservative perspective of novel materials, but progress is being made, and geopolymers will be an important element of sustainable development in the future.
