Assessment on efficiency of contaminants removal in candle type house hold water filter.

Candle type water filter is commonly used in India for the purification of water. Candle filter is found to be very effective in the removal of turbidity. Due to complex pore structure, candle filter absorbs certain contaminants and it is filtered in the water. Accumulation of turbid particles over the surface slows down the filtering capacity of the candle filter. In present, it is planned to provide cotton membrane over the candle that can set as a turbid absorbing screen and reduces the blocking of pore structure. Further, it is proposed to analyze the performance of the membrane with respect to turbidity removal and contaminants removal. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
