Abstract

Introduction: Nursing as a discipline directs its actions toward the integral care of the life and health of the human being, either to individuals or groups. Two essential elements make it up; one is the professional, which integrates it with other health disciplines and facilitates the development of actions that improve the quality of life and respond to social needs. Objective: To describe the dimensions and components that characterize university professors' quality of life and state of health. Method: An exploratory literature review was carried out in various documentary sources and scientific databases, consisting of a bibliographic search in June 2022 in Scielo and Redalyc. Results: Self-care could be considered as the ability of an individual to carry out all the activities necessary to live and survive with well-being. Conclusions: These theories, originating from psychosociology and nursing, contribute to the emergence of new models and approaches that generate well-being, and human development, for the person's benefit and, therefore, improve indicators of said quality of life in patients--university teachers.
