Abstract
- This article presents information about several research papers which were presented during the conference of Association of Laparoscopic Surgeons of Great Britain and Ireland. The conference was held during November 25-26, 2004, in Liverpool, England. The first paper is "Totally Laparoscopic Anatomical Left Lateral Hepatic Sectionectomy: Technique and Initial Experience." Results show that totally laparoscopic left lateral sectionectomy is feasible and safe in selected patients. Another study is "Applications of Minimally Invasive Surgery in Patients With Gastric Outlet Obstruction and Obstructive Jaundice." It was found that gastric and biliary bypass can be performed safely by the laparoscopic approach in all comers with benign or malignant disease who require surgery to palliate or prevent gastric outlet obstruction or obstructive jaundice.
