Abstract

The article analyzes the current state and trends in the development of feed production in agricultural enterprises of the Republic of Tatarstan. The reduction of annual and perennial grasses was revealed, which is greater than silage crops (corn), which is a negative trend, since it weakens the feed base, leads to an increase in the cost of livestock products. At the same time, during the study period, there were serious changes in the structure of feed use: there was an increase in the consumption of concentrated feeds, a reduction in the consumption of juicy, coarse and green feeds. One of the most important sources of feed production in the Republic of Tatarstan is natural forage lands. By January 1, 2022, in farms of all categories, the area of natural hayfields amounted to 131.5 thousand hectares, natural pastures – 899 thousand hectares, in general they make up more than 22% of all agricultural land. A substantial amount of feed can be obtained from these lands. The directions of increasing the sustainability of feed production have been identified, in particular, the expansion of the areas of cultivated pastures, the implementation of large-scale reclamation measures to improve meadows and pastures on the scale of the Republic of Tatarstan. It is proposed, in the future, to increase the share of natural and cultivated forage lands to at least 20% in the total forage balance. Accordingly, the modernization and creation of a modern forage base of agricultural enterprises should be based on the effective use of pasture lands and on the optimal territorial placement of forage lands in each enterprise. At the same time, the pace of development of feed production should be ahead of the development of cattle breeding. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
