Abstract

This article presents a new electrode made with a 3D printer which is coated with a layer of graphene oxide and poly(1,8-diaminonaphthalene) combined with silver nanoparticles as an electro-catalyst for the detection of the antibiotic cefepime, an important fourth-generation cephalosporin. This nanocomposite-based 3D printing electrode showed an enhanced electrocatalytic activity toward cefepime with high sensitivity and stability in neutral pH media. The linear relationship between the height of peak current and cefepime concentration allowed the differential pulse voltammetry determination of cefepime from 0.4 to 4.0 μM, and the limit of detection was 0.08 μM. The proposed electrode was successfully applied for the determination of cefepime as the drug in pharmaceutical formulations sample. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
