Abstract
- The article provides a narrative representation of the experience of Indigenous workers who were drafted into the mines of the cerro rico (rich peak) in Spanish colonial Peru (now Bolivia) during the sixteenth, seventeenth, and eighteenth centuries. It explores the hardships and challenges faced by these Indigenous workers as they were forced to toil in the dangerous silver mines of Potosí. It highlights the physical and emotional toll of their labor and the harsh conditions they endured.
