Abstract

Keywords: drought tolerance; flower; hydraulics; minimum conductance; physiological costs; water relations EN drought tolerance flower hydraulics minimum conductance physiological costs water relations 2076 2082 7 08/23/23 20230915 NES 230915 Data availability All data are available and provided in the Supplementary Information. In most cases, one flower and leaf per plant was sampled, and previous measurements suggest that intraspecific variation in flower I g i SB min sb is relatively small (Roddy I et al i ., [47]). Of the 101 species for which we measured I g i SB min sb data for both leaves and flowers, only 27 species had flowers with lower I g i SB min sb than leaves. That I g i SB min sb has been shown to scale with whole-flower hydraulic conductance reiterates the role of I g i SB min sb in regulating flower water balance (Roddy I et al i ., [47]).
