Abstract
- The article reports on the 1,000 square miles of protected forest preserved for Tamandua and Pakyi, two of the remaining survivors of the indigenous Piripkura tribal group that once occupied a part of the Brazilian Amazon rainforest, that could lose its protections. It informs about the legal challenge led by the Penço family to the protections of the Piripkura area. A historical background on the destruction of the Piripkura village is provided.
