Abstract

Specifically, the soil displacement in the I z i -direction ( I u SB r sb i ) was described as follows: (1) HT <math display="block" overflow="scroll" xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML"><msub><mi>u</mi><mi>z</mi></msub><mo>=</mo><mi>w</mi><mo stretchy="false">(</mo><mi>z</mi><mo stretchy="false">)</mo><msub><mi> </mi><mi>z</mi></msub><mo stretchy="false">(</mo><mi>r</mi><mo stretchy="false">)</mo><mi>cos</mi><mo> </mo><mi> </mi></math> ht where I SB z sb i = dimensionless decay functions of the displacement components in the I z i -direction. The radial and circumferential soil displacements in the lateral direction obtained from T-B with I u SB z sb i and rigid beam with I u SB z sb i are similar, but the deflection diminishes much more slowly if I u SB z sb i is not considered. Comparing the results obtained from T-B with I u SB z sb i with the FDM results, the writers found that the radial, circumferential, and vertical soil displacements obtained from T-B with I u SB z sb i are in better agreement with the FDM results.
