Abstract

Binary mixtures of double hydrogen bond liquid crystals are investigated by chemical, optical and thermal studies. These binaries exhibiting rich phase polymorphism, in which hydrogen bond is formed between Methyl Malonic acid (MM), heptyloxy benzoic acid (7BOA), and decyloxy benzoic acid (10BOA) abbreviated as MM + 7BOA and MM + 10BOA. MM + 7BOA (X) is considered as one of the variants while MM + 10BOA (Y) is considered as other variant. Appropriate molar ratio (0.1X to 0.9X and 0.1Y to 0.9Y) variation in the precursors leads to formation of nine binary mixtures. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
