Energy has been the main factor used by mankind in meeting its basic needs such as existence, maintaining its life, protection, housing and improving the quality of life from the past to the present, when the history of civilization existed. The importance of energy at every stage of consumption and production is increasing day by day. That is why the countries that hold the world energy power are in a constant state of development. The energy supply crises that have occurred in recent years have led countries to new alternative energy sources. The aim of this study is to investigate the asymmetric relationship between foreign direct investments and renewable energy consumption for the Turkish economy in the period of 1980-2019. The hidden cointegration approach and Hatemi & Irandoust cointegration test, which are one of the new generation tests, were used. The stationarity analysis of the variables was tested with ADF and KPSS unit root tests. According to the Hatemi J &Irandoust cointegration test, it was found that there is a long-term relationship between the variables. The long-term coefficients of the variables were determined by FMOLS and DOLS estimator methods. Finally, the hidden error correction model was applied, and the existence of an asymmetric causality from the foreign direct investment component to the renewable energy consumption component was determined.
