Abstract
- The article presents information about Guillermo del Toro, the Mexican filmmaker known for his film "Guillermo del Toro's Pinocchio". Del Toro is a "non-practicing Catholic" who proposes realities of love, sacrifice, forgiveness, and redemption in his films. The plot of "Pinocchio" focuses on the character of Geppetto, a carpenter who creates Pinocchio, a wooden puppet that comes to life. The film addresses themes of freedom, goodness, and the violence of power, and is set during Italian fascism. Pinocchio rebels against control and sacrifices his life out of love for his father.
