To not include all Muslims and Islamic revivalist movements in a discussion about contemporary Islamic revivalism is to ignore vital dimensions of the modern Muslim experience, which can render generalizations about contemporary Islamic revivalism not only weak, but even invalid. In Arabic, Islamic revival is called I tajdid, i which literally translates to "regeneration" or "renewal".
