Abstract
- Despite the availability of effective anti-HIV drug therapy, according to UNAIDS estimates, 1.3 million people became newly infected with HIV and 630,000 died from AIDS-related illnesses in the year 2022 [[1]]. 34835048 12 Ingram Z., Fischer D.K., Ambrose Z. Disassembling the nature of capsid: Biochemical, genetic, and imaging approaches to assess HIV-1 capsid functions. The capsid is composed of ~2000 copies of the structural protein known as capsid (CA); it also contains the viral genomic RNA, which is coated and condensed by the HIV-1 nucleocapsid protein (NC), and the Pol proteins, reverse transcriptase (RT) and integrase (IN). 27980210 8 Olson E.D., Musier-Forsyth K.
